June 30 If you’ll look at an earlier entryyou’ll see where I highlighted a part of one of my entries in a nice brown ugly color. I did that to emphasize the fact that this is one of those drunken generalities that I don’t actually believe and I regret writing. I’ve been blogging sober for the last few entries, and it’s nowhere near as fun as blogging drunk, but when blogging drunk, sometimes egotistical drunken posturing can result in saying things you regret. Anybody that has gotten drunk knows this to be true, but most people don’t shout out to the world through blogging when drunk. I’m just crazy like that. So, please forgive my blanket statement that really is rather overarching and overambitious and has no bearing at all on reality considering I have no way to even begin to prove that everybody over twenty is not seeing through Hollywood publicity stunts. It may be the exact opposite. But, if you are one of those few that actually don’t believe that Hollywood uses complex fakery in their publicity, you need to take a closer look at Hollywood. But, let me explain why I sometimes feel that my twenty-something hypothesis is true, and I’m going to keep it simple. Look at what kind of media stars are being produced and how many people are worshipping at the alter of a new type of celebrity, and realize that this new type of celebrity has a young demographic, and you’ll kind of get why I stated such an assumption. But, I’m trying not to cross over into old man land. You know, that mentality that I heard from my parents about the type of entertainment I loved, where they say “you kids are listening to crap and watching crap now-a-days. When I was a kid, musicians had more talent, TV was more interesting with better actors, movies were REAL movies, and clothing was more stylish.” I heard that crap when I was younger, and I thought it was BS, but in some cases it was probably true looking back from an older vantage point. Still, I don’t believe it’s absolutely true in every case and I’m trying not to get that closed minded. So, instead of deleting entries, I’m now going to be a self-critic. And, if you care to do so as well, be my guest. Although, I don’t expect it given my history with blogging. You must understand that I’m willing to be wrong and I’ve always been willing to be wrong. I wouldn’t blog to the world if I wasn’t willing to risk being wrong. You don’t know how many times I’ve self-corrected as I’ve learned something new through experience or through reading. Sometimes those self-corrections have had profound effects on my worldview. So, the way I view life is that being wrong is a learning experience, and being right is just plane fun. LOL. June 29 This is just gratuitous and I know I've posted it in the past on my other blogs, but I just watched Monty Python and The Meaning of Life last night and saw it again. I think it's both hilarious and relevant. So I'm posting it again. If you haven't seen old musical, you may not get how brilliant this is, but watch the musical Oliver (I think it's the early seventies version if I'm not mistaken, it's in color) and you'll see exactly what type of musical movie interlude upon which this little clip was based. The follow up in the movie pans over to their Protestant neighbors pointing and making fun of their Catholic neighbor for not being able to wear a condom, thus having too many kids, while also showing the Protestant couple to be so uptight, they've only had sex twice, once for each kid. Anyways, it's a hilarious movie if you're into that type of humor and I certainly am. Here’s a thoughtCan you imagine a situation where you walk into a child’s room and see he has a cut. There is a little blood but the child isn’t crying and he’s just points and says owie. Now, if you as a parent were to start screaming and yelling and making a fuss over the cut, what do you think the child is going to do? If dozens of people were to walk in and out of the room, yelling and screaming and making a big fuss over the cut, what do you think the child is going to do and how is he going to feel? Keep upping the number of people making a big deal about the cut, screaming and yelling and gnashing their teeth, that child is going to be neurotic about that cut. He’ll probably be damaged for life. If you were to call in professionals, like paramedics or police, and they did the same thing, woaa, watch out. You’ll have one psychotic child, all from a little cut. Apply this to almost anything, and I’d be willing to bet, you’ll get the same results. Now, imagine if you were to show an over-dramatized depiction of a kid dealing with a cut on television. Imagine if you were to do this over and over again for decades, you can actually create the same effect with adults. When they see their kid get a cut they will react the way they saw it on television, thus actually creating the fear in the child, which reinforces what they saw on television by implanting the fear in the child, who then becomes damaged, who then grows up to be freaked out by cuts, who then passes this fear on to an entire generation, on and on and on it goes, where it stops, nobody knows. This is a form of social construction and many times its invisible to the naked eye, unlike my hypothetical example. I’m just going to leave it there for now and may pick it up again when I’m not half asleep after having been up all night. Anyhue, many times I refer to therapists in a negative light. I will admit, I’m stuck in the past. I know nothing about current therapies or counseling, but I have read many a nasty book about out of control therapy sessions and the damage they have caused in the past. So, if I inadvertently talk about a therapist in a negative light, I could easily open up one of my books and show you an example of what I’m talking about by copying and pasting it in this blog. I’m not an expert, and I’m not trying to insult experts, but I have seen experts criticize each other in writing, with examples. So, every time you see therapist in my writing, just think of the first paragraph in this entry, and replace therapist with that concept, and you’ll get where I’m going. Therapists aren’t really the problem in most cases, it’s much deeper than that. High moms? I thought this article was interesting and enlightening. LEGALIZE and get it over with. mom's smoking up June 25 enlightened society? Any society whose people think that ANY WORD deserves violence as a response isn't an enlightened society. The worst word or insult on the planet cannot be as painful as a beating or getting hit. If you actually think that, you're delusional. It's interesting that a special interest group, that has had instances of the people they defend getting beat to death, would condemn words over violence. It's a crazy world that has emerged around me as I've gotten older. Thank the P.C. police and their over reactions and EMOTIONAL POSTURING for this result. June 24 Well, I was wrong about the Perez thing, but oh well. It just looked suspicious. Every time somebody screams about another persons free speech and gets offended, it makes me appreciate free speech even more. It also makes me want to exercise my free speech even more. If we were so obsessive throughout history about people getting offended from speech, we'd still be in the dark ages. There have been times that when people offended popular opinion, they were thrown in jail. But, some of those people were persistent, and brought about great change. Now I'm not comparing stupid publicity arguments to such monumental free speech situations, but defending the most insignificant free speech from being shut down by violence or any other means keeps free speech control in check and allows for open debate and discussion about ANYTHING, even preconceived notions that we think are fact. Majority opinions aren't always right, that's why the free speech of the minority and the individual is the most important free speech on the planet and should be protected at all costs. Speaking of majority opinions, isn't it amazing how much of reality is simply opinion? Opinions differ across the world, from foods eaten, to entertainment enjoyed, to religious opinions, to opinions on various social issues, etc, etc. Given this fact, if I'm born in the United States and find myself at odds with most of my fellow countrymen in my opinion on cultural and social issues, does that make me wrong? Nope. It makes me different. And, if I have reasoned opinions, rather than just gut reactions, all the better. Some opinions don't even have to be defended, they just are. Taste in foods, sexual orientation, sense of humor, taste in clothes, taste in colors, all of these things do not have to be reasoned opinions, they are completely motivated by something inside ourselves that we often can't even describe, we just feel it. But, other things like abortion rights, social economic issues, religious views (or lack thereof) are many times arguable and there may be somebody that is actually more right than somebody else on these subjects. But even in these areas, gut feeling drives much of our reactions, and gut feeling is rarely right or wrong, it just is. So, there have to be rational people who are able to step outside their emotions and referee the higher social issues without letting gut feeling get in the way, especially in the sensitive social issues. I get this, but it is not uncommon for the referees to be in it up to their neck because they are driven by their gut feelings about the issue, and thus bring zero unbiased analysis to the subject, which I believe can actually cause more harm than good. You see this all of the time in 'special interest' groups and their leaders. So, bringing it back full circle to free speech, it's our most important right, and sometimes that small individual voice who has the guts to speak up will be the most rational person in the room and other times they can be the most biased person in the room, on one side of an issue or the other, and all those voices have to be heard and should not have to fear exercising their right to speak. This is my long-winded diatribe on the subject. Admittedly, it's not proofread, nor is it put together carefully, but I think I've got it off of my chest. I'm sober, so I'm a little more wobbly than when I'm drunk. On another subject, I love Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I got a joystick today, and now it's blast. I was trying to do it with a mouse and keyboard, and was failing miserably. I've found a new hobby to add to my list. Later Umm and I loved Annie when I was a kid. I loved the music. It's a musical. I had a crush on the actress that played Annie. It actually affected the choice I made when I was looking for my first girlfriend. But, I never, ever, ever, expected to hear the music used in a rap song. That just floored me. And don't forget catchy tuneage....rap has thrived on that, and musicians have created that. I know, I know, too much information.... Never mind like comedians 'artists' don't have to defend their words. And, unlike critics, they can play self-righteous within artistic license. But, critics are also to blame, because they play self-righteous within their opinionistic??? license. Can't we all just get along? Of course not. Drama would not ensue, and then where would we be? We'd be with less artists and less critics. Information dissemination has had a huge effect. Something Perez hasn't done. Start posting the LYRICS of artists and critiquing said lyrics for depth. OH MY GOSH. Gosh, gee, willy, what? That could be interesting. Break it down. LMFAO!!!!! Some more ear-relevant music from years ago.... Just gratuitous music from my youth, that I love. Ok, you artists just watch Almost Famous and you'll get Mario Perez. It's him with a few more years on him. Quit tripping. He's stating his opinion. He's a critic. Women aren't above criticism. That's the way of the world. Just go look at some fashion bloggers, and get back on track. You guys are hating in the wrong place, but getting a LOT OF ATTENTION for doing so. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I based this entry on a comment I read on the man's website at the time of this entry. Nothing annoys me more than seeing people get hit for words. But, it would annoy me more if it were fake to get sympathy. I'm just erring on the side of caution. I never get attention, but I try to take the pulse of reality. It's hard when people use fake arms. Which are the fake arms, which are the real arms..... And just in case most people are in on the joke, but watch for kicks, than this is just like the WWF. LMFAO!!!! I mean that in ways other than physical. It's the PR version of the WWF without the wrestling. It's all build-up and show to get attention, and everything is choreographed*. That's not art, that's bullshit. Pardon my honesty. And, at least in wrestling there is some fear of hospitalization....ok, now the lines have been re-drawn. Again, LMFAO!!! Am I getting through? *I'll explain that in more detail. Art for the sake of attention, it's an old trick that I never bought. Typically it doesn't mask anything. It is what it is, and it isn't anything else. You can see this stuff because when you actually analyze the content, it's very shallow. I could state examples, but I'm not into that sort of thing. I'm not an artist. What I am is a realist, who likes poetic lyricists, complex music (original, melodic, etc), and beauty that fits my opinion Personality doesn't hurt either. Sue me. Who am I? It doesn't matter. If I make a case for my opinion, who I am is irrelevant. Usually, simpletons go for the "who are you?" comeback when they have nothing else. Stick to the topic at hand. I didn't even notice that the bloody eye came from that manager of the Black-Eyed Peas. Wow, that's very coincidentally ironic. I know, I know, I should be use to nonsense, but it never gets old. By the way, this is why I want young people to be exposed to the world at an early age. I've always advocated exposure to reality for children, not hiding them away. After all, when twenty somethings are still 'buying' nonsense, there's something wrong with the way we shelter our children from reality. Better they see this crap at 12, rather than find it out at 27. OK, if I'm wrong, it's not in all cases. I've seen PR from Hollywood go all sorts of places, and every person over 12 should be able to see through it in an enlightened society. Obviously, we aren't an enlightened society. That was the greatest PR move I've ever seen. I'm so honest, I'm willing to take a bloody eye for it. I've always thought that about Hilton. I mean, I'm on his team. Free speech is free, and in all ways. If you have to hit a guy for what he says, you just aren't worth talking to, obviously. If a hit is a response to words, that speaks volumes. But, I'm jaded enough to see a few things in this situation. First, Mario Perez is an actor.....he majored in drama. Second, he has pulled a black-eye stunt before. And, third, even if this wasn't a stunt, it sure got a lot of comments on his blog. I'm waiting for the trial when he presses charges. Other than that, a very entertaining publicity stunt. Jack Bauer, eat your heart out, you head-butting psychopath. June 21 And it is the irony in the song, that makes it so hilarious... She's either blind, or very smartly complex. It's for us to judge. Wonderful I love this song..... It's old Lilly. I liked it a long time ago. Lovely. Sometimes, when I'm watching Perez of PEREZHILTON.COM, I wonder what he's thinking. Sometimes, I think he's thinking this song.... (We care a lot) (We care a lot) (We care a lot) about disasters, fires, floods and killer bees about the NASA shuttle falling in the sea (We care a lot) about starvation and the food that Live Aid bought (We care a lot) about disease, baby Rock, Hudson, rock, yeah! Woow Woah a woah a oh Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it We care a lot (We care a lot) (We care a lot) about the gamblers and the pushers and the geeks (We care a lot) about the smack and crack and whack that hits the street (We care a lot) about the welfare of all the boys and girls (We care a lot) about you people cause we're out to save the world (YEAH) Woow, Wooow Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Woah a woah a oh Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Said, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Woah a woah a oh Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Oh, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it Said, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it (We care a lot) about the army navy air force and marines (We care a lot) about the M.Y.S.F.N.L.A.P.D (We care a lot) about you people (We care a lot) about your guns (We care a lot) about the wars you're fighting gee that looks like fun (We care a lot) about the Garbage Pail Kids, they never lie (We care a lot) about Transformers cause there's more than meets the eye (We care a lot) about the little things, the bigger things we top (We care a lot) about you people yeah you bet we care a lot YEAH! I'm actually being rational, something that has been lost in our discourse on reality. If you really think that everything I'm saying is completely off of the mark, you are not in the real world. Period. Seriously. And, I'm half crazy, I'll admit that, but I still see many of the fundamental realities. How about YOU? people..... I know, I know the naysayers are yelling "it's more complicated, you simpleton!!!!" Oh, yes, I'm sure it is, in some sort of complex convoluted reality. But, let's look at two rape victims talking to each other while comparing stories. Statutory rape victim 1: I went to his house, I thought he was cool, we liked the same movies, I liked being around him, I decided I had a crush on him and it seemed like he liked me to. We talked about everything but school. He's really in to the same things I'm in to. He asked me back for another date. On the next get together, the same thing happened, but we started petting on his couch. I was horny as hell, wet as hell, but a little shy. I let him finger me, but would let it go no further. On the next date, he hesitated, but I wanted it to go further. The fingering felt so good, I was curious about the rest. I let it go beyond that point, and it felt good. The boys as school are too immature for me. This guy's about my maturity level, and I'm going to give it up. The next date, I let it all go. It was heaven. The lead-ups couldn't even begin to describe it. I never knew that it felt like that. Then next date, we did it again. The next day, we did it again. Etc, etc, etc. Later, mom found out, we got busted, I'm now in therapy, and he's an evil fuck. I never knew that about him Rape victim: I was minding my own business, when my door was broken down. This guy came at me with a knife. I was screaming and crying, but scared of getting killed. This man forced me down on my own bed, and ripped my pants off. He cut my shirt off. He rubbed my breasts violently and kept telling me not to look at him. I closed my eyes tightly, and the forced himself on me. When I didn't react, he slapped me. It hurt because my vagina was dry. I didn't dare scream, because I didn't want him to cut me. When he was done, he pulled out and beat me up. He ran away, and I was left on the floor crying and sobbing. I didn't even call the police immediately because I was in shock. Etc, etc, etc.... And, just for kicks, consensual sex between two equal age people, in some circumstances: I went to his house, I thought he was cool, we liked the same movies, I liked being around him, I decided I had a crush on him and it seemed like he liked me to. La dee daa!!!! June 20 Now, you might be asking does this blogger think rape is hilarious? I never said so, nor do I think it is. What do I think is hilarious? Calling consensual sex rape, no matter what the circumstances. I'd say if somebody serves you cereal, and you don't like it, you get up and go. You don't come back for seconds, and thirds, and then cry because you hated the cereal. I'd say, you consented to that cereal when you asked for seconds and go OUT OF YOUR WAY TO get seconds. Legal jargon and semantic games annoy me when they rarely represent that which they are describing...or, like the term obligation verses debt, they obfuscate reality. It's harder to say obligator's prison, isn't it? I don't even think obligator is a word. But, debtors prison, that's an entirely different thing. LMFAO!!!!! |
